Otago Boys' High School came and conquered.

It leads 11-7 in the traditional interschool against King's High School.

The cross-country is being held today during the Caversham Relay, but Otago Boys' has a four-point buffer and cannot lose the interschool.

The visitors also won the marquee event - the First XV match - 20-9. The fixture doubled as an Otago schools premier game.

Coach Ryan Martin felt his side lacked a little zip following a tough game on the weekend against its Second XV. But he also felt King's played with a lot of passion.

''We looked a bit tired today, to be honest,'' he said.

''We played on Saturday and whether that had an effect, I'm not sure.''

The Second XV game was a one-sided encounter with Otago Boys' winning 77-0. Its under-15 side won 47-22 but King's had a healthy win in the under-14 match, winning 66-10.

King's dominated the football, winning the First XI game 2-0 and the junior First XI one 4-0.

The basketball was split: Otago Boys' won the senior match 110-85 and King's won the junior match 67-61.

Badminton was one-way traffic with Otago Boys' winning 10-2. The school also won the senior and junior chess, senior debating, junior hockey, golf and trap shooting.

King's won the junior debating, the smallbore shooting, and the senior hockey 4-0.
