Motorists will be shown no mercy if they speed past Omarama School.
Constable Nayland Smith, of Omarama, has had enough of traffic speeding past the school on State Highway 8 at the southern end of the town and plans to clamp down.
It is an issue that is worrying him. The main offenders are motorists passing through the town.
In the past few weeks, he has paid particular attention to the strip of highway outside the school, each time stopping at least three cars doing 70kmh or more in the 50kmh zone.
He has promised to clamp down on speedsters over the next three months.
He planned no leniency and anyone going past the school at more than 50kmh would be issued an instant fine.
