Four appliances from Invercargill station attended the scene and successfully extinguished the fire.

"ACC staff did exactly what was expected and used the correct protocol. The crews used fans to extract the smoke and the important thing was nobody was harmed.’’

Police attended and put cordons in place to block access to the street.

People in the building were evacuated and there were no injuries.

"At this stage’’ firefighters were unable to determine the cause of the fire but a fire investigator was scheduled to visit the site to carry out a more in-depth investigation.
