A man has been tasered by police after he held a machete to a boy's neck in a western Sydney shopping mall.
The 23-year-old was subdued as he allegedly threatened the teenager at the Westfield mall in Mt Druitt about 3pm (AEST) on Tuesday.
He assaulted the 17-year-old, who he did not know, before putting a machete to the boy's neck, police allege.
The man was then tasered before being taken from the Luxford Road shopping centre to nearby Mt Druitt police station.
He was charged with detaining a person with intent to obtain advantage, occasioning actual bodily harm, using an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, wearing a facial disguise, and wielding a knife in a public place.
The man was refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday.
The boy suffered facial bruising.
