The sideline conduct of the Stormers during their Super Rugby victory over the Hurricanes in Palmerston North has sparked a Sanzar investigation.
Sanzar issued a press release overnight saying they were investigating a complaint of "match day misconduct" against the Stormers and their team management during the April 26 match at FMG Stadium, won 18-16 by the Stormers.
"As this matter is before a SANZAR Judicial Officer, no further comment will be made at this time," the statement continued.
It is understood the match-day officials wrote to Sanzar to express their disappointment at the behaviour of the Stormers' management team on the sideline who were vocal in their criticism of the officiating.
The, at times, stormy match included Hurricanes' lock Jeremy Thrush being sent to the sin bin in the first half by referee Steve Walsh for collapsing a maul.
The Hurricanes had nothing to do with the complaint and a spokeswoman said today that the franchise had little knowledge of any issues from the game.
Matt Peters, who was the sideline manager at the game, said he couldn't comment as it could hinder the integrity of the investigation.
"I can't give you any details around what happened or what's going to happen from here," he said.
During the game the Stormers' coaching staff were extremely vocal in their box in the main stand at FMG Stadium.
After 12 rounds of the competition the Stormers are in 10th place in the overall standings and fourth in the South African conference. The Hurricanes, fourth in the New Zealand conference, are in South Africa preparing for a match against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein this weekend.
