The concert, titled "Mendelssohn, Brahms and Bruckner — choral works from the German Romantic period" will be held this Sunday from 2pm at St Joseph’s Chapel, Rattray St.
The performance by the 20-strong choir, conducted by Daniel Kelly, will feature excerpts from Mendelssohn’s majestic Mass for Double Choir, complemented by selections from Brahms’s much-loved Sieben Lieder (Seven Songs), including the poetic Waldesnacht (Woodland Night).
Also featured will be Bruckner’s Os justi (The mouth of the righteous) and Locus iste (This place was made by God), the serene harmonies of Rheinberger’s Abendlied (Evening Song), and Stefan Claas’ arrangement of Maria durch ein Dornwald ging (Mary walks amid the thorns).
A statement from the choir said the programme would also include solo performances from members including Kathryn Gardner, Cathy Highton-Sim, and Kieran Kelly, each accompanied by Sanaz Rezai.
Sunday’s concert will be performed in St Joseph’s Chapel, nestled behind the Rattray St Cathedral in the grounds of Trinity Catholic College.
