Aotearoa live drum and bass legends Shapeshifter are hitting the road next month to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their iconic album Soulstice.

Tracks like Summer Haze, New Day Come, Electric Dream, and One helped define the signature Shapeshifter live sound and remain fan favourites to this day.

The five-member Shapeshifter lineup of P.Digsss (vocals), Sam Trevethick (guitar/synths/sampler), Nick Robinson (bass/synths), Dan McGruer (synths/sampler) and Darren Mathiassen (drums), will be on stage to recreate the popular tracks.

In a statement, Shapeshifter said "Soulstice was created during the lush, sun-drenched transition from bright summer to deep amber autumn".

"The foreshore of Kaikōura hosted us in a ramshackle Kiwi bach — the kind of place families would pack the car full to escape to over the holidays.

"As we hit the road this autumn and head into winter, we want to carry those feelings of creating Soulstice with us."

The eight-date Soulstice 20th anniversary "roadie" takes in Invercargill, Dunedin, Wānaka, Christchurch, Methven, Wellington, Whanganui, and New Plymouth, bringing Shapeshifter’s celebrated live show to theatres and halls across the country, revisiting towns they have not played in for years and performing at many venues for the first time.

The tour will include fully seated shows in some of New Zealand’s most beautiful and historic venues.

A number of shows, including the show at Dunedin Town Hall on May 8, will be all ages gigs, opening the doors for longtime fans and new listeners alike to share the experience together.

Joining Shapeshifter for the roadie is the upcoming drum & bass DJ, vocalist and selector, Pearly. — Allied Media
