Southern musician and performer Lorina Harding with be a special guest at this weekend’s Dunedin Folk Club night.

Known for her songwriting, along with acting and physical performance for stage, television and film, Canadian-born Harding has been a part of the New Zealand arts scene since 1988.

Her first album Lucky Damn Woman received exceptional reviews and won best folk album at the 1992 New Zealand Music Awards. Harding was nominated most promising female vocalist in the same year.

In 2005, Harding’s long-awaited second album Clean Break also captured a Tui Award.

Having played support for many overseas acts, including Lucinda Williams (US), Suzanne Vega (US), Katy Moffat (US), Rory McLeod (United Kingdom) and more, Harding now lives and performs in small-town New Zealand.

Lorina Harding will headline the Dunedin Folk Club night this Sunday, April 19, from 7.30pm at Opoho Bowling Club, 80 Lovelock Ave. The event is open to the public as well as folk club members. — Allied Media
