Following the critically acclaimed release of their Asphodels album, in 2025, The Veils have quickly returned with new album Fragile World.

The band is celebrating the release of Fragile World, coming up on June 19 on V2 Records, with a 10-date New Zealand tour, including six full band shows and four solo performances.

As part of the tour, The Veils band will perform at Dunedin venue Pearl Diver, 73 St Andrew St, on June 25.

In a statement, The Veils front-man Finn Andrews said "it feels right to start our Fragile World tour back home in dear Aotearoa".

"These are some of our favourite towns to play in on earth and we can’t think of a better way to dust off this moth-bitten black suit and hat and get the show on the road," Andrews said.

Recorded live to tape in New Zealand by Paddy Hill, with production by Tom Healy, Fragile World marks a shift in tone and energy for the band.

Andrews said the process of making music was a delicate and fragile undertaking, where thousands of small decisions gradually coalesce into a finished whole.

"We went into the studio with a lot of songs, but very little idea of the arrangements or instrumentation.

"It was truly exciting having no idea what this record would sound like and only a few weeks to figure it out," Andrews said.

Since being signed to Rough Trade Records when Andrews was just 16 years old, The Veils have now released eight studio albums: The Runaway Found (2004), Nux Vomica (2006), Sun Gangs (2009), Time Stays, We Go (2013), Total Depravity (2016), Out Of The Void Came Love (2023), Asphodels (2025) and Fragile World (2026).

The Veils have toured consistently throughout their over-20-year history and garnered a reputation as a great live band. — Allied Media
