An investigation in Rolling Stone magazine found that water used in AI-powering data centres is making nitrate pollution worse.
Some of the water used to cool the centres evaporates, leaving the remainder proportionately higher in nitrates.
Water in Morrow County, in the US, is testing at up to 70ppm, the investigation found.
