The fun run began at 7am and took competitors on a 5km walk, or 10km run, from the railway station on to Otago Peninsula and back.
The first runner home was Sabrina Grogan, a School of Medicine student, while Aileen Miller, from the Waimate Medical Centre, was the fastest walker.
The event was held in conjunction with the National Rural Health Conference, also staged in Dunedin at the weekend, and attracted 162 runners and walkers, Pat Farry Rural Health Education Trust trustee Simone Flight said.
Participants included conference delegates, medical and nursing students and members of the public, she said.
