Big hats, music and food will be prominent at a garden party being organised by the Balclutha Presbyterian Church today.
Convener Marylyn McClintock said the event was being held to raise money to buy furnishings for the new church hall, which was under construction.
The garden party will be held at the Waitepeka farm of Helen and Peter Gilder from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
Ms McClintock said the venue would be signposted at the railway crossing on the outskirts of Balclutha on the Balclutha-Owaka Highway.
There will be musical entertainment in the garden, while stalls and games are also planned.
Clutha district councillor Murray McLean will conduct a bottle auction at 2.30pm.
The garden party is open to the public.
Tickets cost $20, which includes afternoon tea, and can be bought at the gate.
If the weather is wet, the gardens will be open for viewing but the stalls and other activities will move to the gymnasium at Telford Rural Polytechnic.
