Robert Trompetter, of Dunedin, enjoyed a tow all the way from Franz Josef to Cromwell yesterday when his little Austin 7 started to make some engine noises that he did not like.

This 1930s model is one of his family of eight ‘‘baby Austins’’, and despite having no protection against the weather, had been a perfect vehicle for a Dunedin to Dunedin road trip, including an Austin 7 rally in Hokitika.

T Mr Trompetter was accompanied by fellow enthusiasts Robbie Jones and Doug Leggett.
