Man flown to hospital after Blue Pools incident

A man in his 30s is being flown to Dunedin Hospital by rescue helicopter after a medical incident at Blue Pools, north of Makarora.

St John Ambulance said it was alerted that a man required medical assistance at Blue Pools, on Haast Pass-Makarora Rd, at 3.56pm.

A rescue helicopter had arrived from Queenstown and the man was being taken to Dunedin Hospital.

It is believed the man suffered from a medical event while in the water at the popular swimming hole.

A nurse was at the scene before the helicopter arrived.
