Crash blocks Cromwell to Queenstown road

A car crash temporarily blocked the main highway to Queenstown from Cromwell reducing traffic down to one lane.

Shortly before 5.30pm the vehicle was pulled from the road entirely.

A police spokeswoman said a light truck rolled on State Highway 6, between the Crown Range Rd and Chard Rd, near the AJ Hackett Bungy Centre, blocking the road.

No one was injured.

Fire volunteers were called because of a fuel leak and a tow truck was on the way, she said.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
