Dunstan pupils in a new space

Striking a pose outside the Toulouse Space Show in France last week are Dunstan High School pupils (from left) Ruby Shaw (15), Damien Miller (16), Andre Schaap (16), Justin Tudor (16) and Jake O'Malley (16, bottom right) of ''Team Underage'' .

The Alexandra high school pupils travelled to France to pitch their space technology idea at the international ActInSpace finals. They did not compete in the final but because executives from Airbus, one of the global event's sponsors, were so impressed with the team's idea at the New Zealand finals, they offered the pupils the opportunity to pitch their idea in France.

Damien Miller called the experience ''surreal''. ''It's so different from home in New Zealand - all the architecture and buildings, it's absolutely amazing.'' He enjoyed the space shows and, of course, French food.
