A farmhouse at Kyeburn, in the Maniototo, has been destroyed by fire today.
Firefighters from across the district were called to the blaze on State Highway 85, the Morrisons-Kyeburn Rd, about 3.45pm.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said five appliances attended to fight the fire, which was burning in the roof of the farmhouse.
By 5.19pm the fire was said to be partially under control, but firefighters were unable to save the house.
It was ''well and truly done for'', having been knocked over and ''fully dampened-down'', a FENZ spokesman said tonight.
