Three young Dunedin men, who were found "larrikining about" on the roof of the unoccupied former Wanaka Primary School building in Tenby St, will appear before the Queenstown District Court.
The "mildly intoxicated" 19-year-old males were discovered by police on the building about 10.30pm on Wednesday, Senior Sergeant Allan Grindell, of Wanaka, said.
They were charged with unlawfully being on a building and are due to appear in court next week.
Police have issued several warnings to people to stay out of the grounds of the disestablished school, which is private property, owned by the Ministry of Education.
• Property was stolen from several vehicles which were broken into in Wanaka on Wednesday night.
Two Takamine guitars, estimated to be valued at about $3500, were stolen, along with a pair of sunglasses, from a car parked on Brownston St, while another car was broken into nearby, on Tenby St, Snr Sgt Grindell said.
A white Nissan Bluebird was also "rolled out" of a driveway at a property on Anderson Rd and stolen, he said.
Investigations were continuing.
