A police spokeswoman said a vehicle had left State Highway 8A (Luggate Tarras Rd), between Jolly Rd and Bells Ln, about 8.30pm.
"One person, the sole occupant of the vehicle, has died."
Emergency services are still at the scene and traffic management remained in place overnight.
The Serious Crash Unit will examine the scene.
