Over $2.5m granted to youth initiatives

Central Lakes Trust’s latest round of grants has been allocated, with the focus on initiatives directly benefiting the region’s youth.

The trust  approved 37 grants worth over $2.5 million;  $320,000 went to Wakatipu Youth Trust, $260,000 to Wānaka’s Kahu Youth group and $154,476 to Alexandra and Districts Youth Trust. 

Trust chairwoman Linda Robertson said it was paramount to invest in youth "as they are the future stewards of our community".

"Their potential, creativity, and enthusiasm inspire us to continue supporting initiatives that empower and nurture their talents, ensuring a bright and promising tomorrow for the CLT region."

Upper Clutha recipients were: Hāwea Playgroup Playscape Project Stage 1 ($6615), Lake Hāwea Community Centre Emergency Generator ($12,500), Upper Clutha Tracks Trust Charteris Track ($46,527.00), Warbirds Over Wanaka ($55,000), Arts On Tour NZ Programme Grant 2024 ($ 22,454), Community Networks Wānaka Operational Grant Jan 2024-Dec 2026 ($180,000), Kahu Youth Operational Grant Jan 2024-Dec 2026 ($ 260,000).
