A helicopter moves to replace power equipment at Gorge Creek, between Alexandra and Roxburgh last Wednesday, while working towards the final stages of a big rural project.

An Aurora Energy spokesman said Delta, on behalf of Aurora, is replacing seven wooden poles and hundreds of metres of lines which are up to 50 years old with four steel poles and new lines. Planning for the work started in March last year.

Work began in mid-2017 and is due to be finished by the end of next week.

Aurora estimated the cost of the project at $280,000.

The lines carry power between Alexandra and Roxburgh, and take power generated from the Roxburgh hydro station to the Clyde Dam where it is exported to the national grid.
