Safety work begins on bluff

Safety work on the Nevis Bluff, half-way between Queenstown and Cromwell on State Highway 6, will begin today.

New Zealand Transport Agency Central Otago area manager John Jarvis said motorists could expect delays of up to 10 minutes between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

No work would be carried out on Saturday or Sunday.

Mr Jarvis said work should be completed by November 30, weather permitting.

The work was part of NZTA's safety and monitoring at the Nevis Bluff and this particular job included abseil inspections and helicopter sluicing.
