General practice manager Brent Hollow said Junction Health would open on November 1 and initially employ his wife, Dr Erika Hollow, and another female GP, Dr Pragati Guatma. A third doctor was expected to join the practice next year.
Dr Hollow had worked for five years at the Cromwell Medical Centre.
Junction Health (Cromwell was originally known as The Junction) will be based in Traders Lane, on McNulty Rd.
The centre will provide a range of holistic integrated services and will include practitioners from other fields as well as practice nurses and doctors.
"We have planned for 20 years' growth at the centre so there is space that can be used as demand increases," Mr Hollow said.
The clinic will be built to cope with infection control. Taps will be operated by infra-red sensors to prevent cross-infection and it will have a modern sterilisation room. All the flooring in the centre is MRSA (superbug) resistant.
An ambulance bay will allow patients to be delivered straight into a small accident and emergency room for stabilisation, with an adjacent smaller procedure room for bandaging, suturing and setting casts.
