The Dunback Store, and an attached house, were extensively damaged by a fire this afternoon.
Crews from Palmerston, Waikouaiti, and Hampden attended the East Otago blaze, which started about 2.30pm.
Fire Service southern communications spokesman Brent Dunn said the fire had been extinguished, late this afternoon only the Palmerston crew remained.
The cause was unknown.
