Interest galore for Go Otago

Despite the economic downturn, organisers are still expecting more than 100 stallholders and several thousand members of the public to take part in next year's Go Otago family fun day.

Organisers have announced the next of the Go Otago events, which are held every two years, will take place, as usual, at the Taieri Agricultural Park on Otago Anniversary Day, Sunday, March 21, next year.

Event co-ordinator Victoria Bunton, of Sequel Events, said organisers were already taking registrations and seeking support from stallholders, businesses and entertainers.

Stallholder charges and admission prices were being kept low, and Otago-based businesses and organisations were again keen to participate, appreciating this was a cost-effective way of publicising their goods and services, given the economic downturn, she said.

The popular Big Dig children's event, in which children dig through sawdust seeking tags which are redeemable for prizes, will return next year, she said.

People and organisations wishing to participate can phone organisers on 0800 246-682.

Go Otago is run through a charitable trust which aims to uplift and inspire Otago people to celebrate Anniversary Day.
