Livestock shooting suspects identified

Police have identified suspects in relation to four instances of livestock shooting in Otago.

The killing of the animals, both cows and sheep, was reported over a two-day period last week.

Sergeant Phil Hamlin said there were people police wanted to speak to regarding the incidents.

"We may be looking at search warrants."

Police hoped to have acted within the week, he said.

"It’s something that we’re putting a high priority on."

He said it appeared the four incidents  were connected.

"I would say they’d have to be. It’s not something that’s common."

The offences were reported in Akatore, Kuri Bush and Beaumont.
