Having her business scrutinised by three experts reminded More Wacky Ideas art gallery owner Larina Tiffen of the television series Dragon's Den.

Miss Tiffen and Andrea Ludemann, both from North Otago, have entered the Bloom Her Business awards to be held in Auckland on June 25.

The pair recently went to Dunedin where they gained feedback from independent judges Tony Crick, from Cre8ive Advertising, Carolyn Edwards, from business advisory firm WHK Taylors, and Ali Copeman, from akB Conference Management, to enhance their awards entries.

Miss Tiffen said it was nice to hear feedback from people with more business experience and some good suggestions had been made.

She entered the awards to challenge herself and to see where she was at with her Moeraki business which she bought three years ago.

Ms Ludemann, who launched her farm operations manuals business 14 months ago, said it was great to have outside input and it gave her the encouragement to put her entry through to national level.

Oamaru Her Business network co-ordinator Sue Morton was thrilled the pair were confident to "put themselves out there" to be judged and receive professional critiquing.

Ms Copeman said she was impressed with both women's businesses.

It was a matter of having someone looking with a fresh set of eyes and giving positive feedback before they went to the next stage of the awards.
