Emily Fuluasou helps Charlotte Elliott (10, left) and Lesieli Halalele (11), all of Oamaru, make ano (balls) at the Oamaru Library during Tuvaluan Language Week on Friday.

She says the game Te Ano — the national game of Tuvalu, similar to volleyball — is played at all social gatherings.

Oamaru’s Tuvaluan community of about 130 played itthis week, but also celebrated  with themes of climate change and health.
