Building capabilities needed for job at school

Volunteers are being sought for an unusual project at the Waitaki Boys' High School Hall of Memories.

The school's Community Association - the equivalent of a parent-teacher association - is keen to repair and replace some worn-out seating inside the historic building.

It has already had some of the upstairs seats re-upholstered, and now needs joinery skills to make replacement seat backs.

Community Association member Bruce McCulloch, who is co-ordinating the project, hoped some of the school's old boys would be able to supply the expertise required.

The seat backs are curved and would need to be cut out of timber and fashioned to the right shape.

The Community Association would provide the materials and people with the abilities and machinery to carry out the work could contact Mr McCulloch.
