Four North Otago businesses have collaborated to raise funds for the Red Cross relief efforts in the tsunami-stricken island of the Pacific.

One of the organisers, Fenella Barry, said it was an "absolute tragedy" and she wanted to do something to help.

Every donation of $5 or more to the Red Cross tsunami appeal will go in the draw for a prize valued at more than $1000 - a case of Sublime Pinot Noir 08, a Donna Demente original artwork, dinner for two at Fleur's Place and a night's accommodation at Three Bays boutique accommodation in Moeraki.

Ms Barry said the prize was "fantastic" and she hoped to raise between $5000 and $10,000.

Donations can be made online at www.redcross.org.nz with a copy of the receipt forwarded to fenella@sublimewine.co.nz left at the North Otago office of the Otago Daily Times, 59 Thames St, Oamaru, or posted c/o the Otago Daily Times, PO Box 116, Oamaru.

The prize-winner will be announced during the first week of November.

Ms Barry's daughter, Madeleine Harrop (9) also plans to organise a mufti-day at Waitaki Valley School to raise money.
