Clay cliffs feature at reserve

A rock feature will be installed on the Omarama Domain Reserve styled on the nearby Clay Cliffs landforms.

The Ahuriri Community Board has confirmed support for the installation, which will be funded up to the value of $15,000 from the Ahuriri general improvements budget.

In a report to the board, Waitaki District Council parks officer Jane Matchett said it would have strategically placed holds, allowing people to climb it. The feature would double as an educationaland promotional tool for the real Clay Cliffs.

The site is next to State Highway 83, near a recently installed mountain bike pump track.

Board chairman Craig Dawson said the concrete structure would be about 4m tall.
