An elderly couple are in a serious condition after their car hit a tree on McLeods Rd, south of Oamaru.
The incident happened about 7.30pm, and initially they were taken to Oamaru Hospital.
However, plans are now being made to have them flown to Dunedin Hospital in the Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
