Kerry Kelly has become the first player in North Otago to win 50 centre titles.
The Phoenix club stalwart was also the first North Otago female bowler to win 25 centre titles, back in 2017.
Her titles have been a mix of singles, doubles and triples. She brought up her 50 by winning the centre triples title earlier this season.
In a career that has spanned 28 years, the friendships she has formed are her favourite part of the sport.
"Just being with friends, it’s a social thing. You go out and you meet people, you go to tournaments and you meet different people. You make some good friends."
She began playing at Meadowbank Bowls Club, but shifted to Oamaru Phoenix Bowling club where she still plays.
In her spare time, she breeds and trains racehorses on her property in Pukeuri.
She has seven horses that she manages, but is also an active member of the local bridge club.
Despite her busy schedule, Kelly is determined to keep doing what she loves.
"We’re not slowing down, we just have to juggle a bit. "
She was honoured at the Bowls North Otago prizegiving last month.
