Police last night confirmed they were helping the Fire Service in investigating the cause of the fire. Mr Mason said two crews were sent to the address and four firefighters entered the building wearing breathing apparatus.
No-one was at home at the time of the fire. A person at the scene, believed to be the property's occupant, declined to comment.
A neighbour, who declined to be named, said the fire "went up quick''. The crews were at the site for about one and a-half hours, though the fire was under control in about five minutes, Mr Mason said.
