Hillbillies have converged on Omarama this weekend for the annual hunting competition, the fourth to be held to raise funds for the Omarama Rodeo.
The Hillbilly Hunt, described by organiser Wendy Patterson as "a fun weekend", usually attracts 10 to 12 teams who are given a list of animals they have to hunt for the weekend.
Three are the same for all teams and are usually slightly easier to find, while two are drawn on the night for each team and can be bigger and difficult to find.
The drawn animals can include quail, pig and deer.
The event started last night at the Omarama Hotel with registrations and the draw of animals to shoot during the weekend, followed by a fun quiz on sports and hunting.
Teams hunt today and tomorrow, with the weigh-in at 3pm tomorrow that includes a possum-skinning competition.
Prizes include the best team and overall winner, and the event concludes with a roast dinner.
