A Danseys Pass farmer was furious to discover three in-lamb ewes slaughtered near the roadside on his property yesterday morning.
Neville Hore, who has contacted police, found the remains a few kilometres from his home on the Danseys Pass Rd and expected they had been shot and gutted on Tuesday night.
The ewes were due to lamb shortly.
He was not aware of any other similar recent incidents, although it occurred in the same area where parts from a portable set of sheep yards were stolen overnight about a month ago.
