Name of crash victim released

Police have released the name of the Oamaru cyclist who died on Sunday after a collision with a car on Awamoa Rd.

Eunice Margaret Bain (69) and two female friends were cycling towards Oamaru when the crash occurred near the town boundary.

She died later in Dunedin Hospital.

Mrs Bain was part of a small group of women who went on regular cycling trips in the area.

Sergeant Tony Woodbridge said police were investigating the cause of the crash and awaiting a report from the serious crash investigation unit.

The 73-year-old Oamaru woman, who was the sole occupant of the car, was interviewed by police yesterday.

Anyone who witnessed the crash was asked to contact police.
