'Not guilty' pleas after fatal crash

The tourist driver accused of killing Motueka motorcyclist Craig Alan Chambers has pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving causing death.

Wei Kiong Lew (29) of Singapore appeared before Judge Michael Crosbie in the Dunedin District Court this morning.

He stands accused of killing Mr Chambers when he allegedly when he allegedly crossed the centre line on State Highway 1 near Waianakarua, about 20km south of Oamaru, on November 29.

Lew also pleaded not guilty to three charges of careless driving causing injury in relation to the incident.

Lew's counsel, Anne Stevens, said he had offered to plead guilty to a charge of aggravated careless driving.

He has been remanded on bail until a case review hearing on March 10.
