Oamaru men charged over medical centre break-in

A pair of Oamaru men have been charged in relation to a break-in at an Oamaru medical centre last month.

Whitestone Family Practice in Ribble St was burgled on August 21, almost three weeks to the day since police believe controlled drugs were targeted in a similar burglary on August 1.

A quantity of medication was taken in the second burglary.

Police executed a search warrant at an Oamaru address on Monday, where a 32-year-old and 30-year-old were arrested.

They appeared in the Timaru District Court on Tuesday on charges related to the burglary, and were remanded in custody without plea to appear in the Oamaru District Court on September 18.

Sergeant Blair Corlet, of Oamaru, said the men had been spoken to about the earlier burglary on August 1 but had yet to be charged.
