Response pleases police

Police are pleased with the response to a request for information following an incident in which two young Oamaru women were hit by a truck on Thames Highway last weekend.

Sergeant Wayne Brew said Madeleine Horn (18) was still in a serious condition in Dunedin Hospital.

A Dunedin Hospital spokeswoman confirmed Ema McGeown (21), who received moderate injuries, had been discharged.

Police were working through the list of people who had come forward with information.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
