Driving to work just after 8am he saw a window smashed at the Post Shop-Kiwibank on the corner of Coquet and Severn Sts then pulled up outside his shop, Pisces Aquarium and Pets on the corner on Thames and Ribble Sts.
''I thought: 'Oh my God, me too','' he told the Otago Daily Times.
A 2m wide display window at the shop, which only opened three weeks ago, looked as though it had been kicked in. It was broken between 10.30pm on Tuesday and 8.15am yesterday.
Mr Cullum said nothing was taken in yesterday's vandalism, but the graphics on the front window were ruined.
Windows were smashed in four premises and four cars were damaged around central Oamaru overnight.
Constable Ashley Pickworth, of Oamaru, said a large stone was thrown through a window at the Waitaki District Council headquarters and windows were kicked in at Pisces, Indian Gardens and Post Shop.
Two vehicles belonging to North Otago Motor Group were dented where someone had climbed to kick in the windscreens and another of the company's vehicles was tampered with. A car parked behind the Oamaru Club also suffered major damage. Nothing was believed to have been taken from the premises or vehicles.
