Interviews to name a replacement for outgoing Tourism Waitaki general manager Jason Gaskill have begun.

Tourism Waitaki chairman Mike McElhinney said the council-controlled tourism body's board remained on track to name Mr Gaskill's replacement before Christmas and the appointment would take effect in the new year.

The transition would be seamless.

Mr Gaskill resigned as general manager from Tourism Waitaki in August, after nine years with the organisation.

He said he would stay in the job until his replacement was appointed and has since confirmed his final day with the company will officially be December 31.

Mr McElhinney said this week the Christchurch-based executive recruitment agency Sheffield, which Tourism Waitaki enlisted, ''cast the net far and wide'', including overseas.
