Alcohol behind six arrests

Wanaka police made six arrests at the weekend for various alcohol-induced offences.

Constable Martin Barham said the arrests were for "minor behavioural type" incidents which were all fuelled by alcohol.

The alleged offences ranged from breaches of the Queenstown Lakes District Council liquor ban bylaw to disorderly behaviour, Const Barham said.

There had also been a couple of reports of petty theft and wilful damage to property, he said.

Despite the six arrests, the majority of the large crowd of people who were out on the town in the resort's bars on Saturday night were well-behaved, Const Barham said.
