A last-minute appeal could mean the critical runway end safety area (Resa) at Queenstown Airport is delayed as the case heads to the Environment Court.
Quail Rise Estate Ltd says, in its appeal lodged with Lakes Environmental yesterday, the Queenstown Airport Corporation, as the requiring authority, was wrong in determining the alteration's environmental effects would be minor.
The appeal called for access to the Resa site, via Tucker Beach Rd and the informal metal road which passes underneath State Highway 6 heading south, to be modified or placed under conditions.
The alternative should be the notice of requirement be withdrawn, it said.
The court was likely to wait and see if additional parties appealed before setting a hearing date.
