Bar moves to stop lock-ins

The Queenstown bar staff responsible for locking in a Swedish tourist overnight last week have changed their procedures to ensure it does not happen again.

Liquor licensing agents from council's regulatory services arm Lakes Environmental met Skybar manager Daniel Taiaroa and staff yesterday to discuss how the 19-year-old woman came to be locked inside a toilet cubicle asleep and left overnight last Wednesday.

Lakes Environmental corporate and regulatory manager Lee Webster said the management team of the bar in Camp St had made changes to improve procedures and have a more ''thorough'' inspection when closing each night.

No official warnings or sanctions resulted from yesterday's meeting.
