As Sally McChlery's four children grow, so too do their stacks of newspapers.
The Arrowtown mother has saved newspapers on their birthdays each year and said she would do so until they turn 21.
It all started when daughter Kendra was born on September 9, 2001, and the World Trade Centre in New York City was hit by a terrorist attack.
''It started with 9/11 because that was such a disturbing but momentous event.''
The papers were ''just something to have to remember'' what had been happening on their birthdays, which are in April, September, October and November.
Perhaps on the children's 21st birthdays she would present the papers to them.
''You can get all the information off the internet but there's something different about having the actual thing.''
