Cannabis sale charges

Two Queenstown residents charged with possessing cannabis for supply were granted interim name suppression after a registrar's list in the Queenstown District Court yesterday.

A 20-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man, who share the same residential address, are jointly charged with possessing the class C drug cannabis for supply between January 1 and November 5 at Queenstown.

The woman is separately charged with selling cannabis to a person over the age of 18, between the same dates.

Under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975, the charges carry a maximum penalty of eight years' imprisonment. Both defendants were remanded on bail to appear in the Queenstown District Court on December 1 when the name suppression application would be readdressed.

Their bail conditions included not leaving New Zealand.

• Kingstyn Matthews-Moerai (20), housekeeper, of Queenstown, was remanded on bail until December 1 on charges of offering to sell the class C drug cannabis and possession of cannabis for the purpose of supply between February 1 and September 30 at Queenstown.

• Mitchell James Langley (25), manager, of Queenstown, procuring cannabis, between June 7 and August 16, remanded on bail to appear in the Queenstown District Court on November 17. Bail conditions include not to consuming drugs other than prescription drugs, surrendering his passport and not leaving New Zealand.

• A 29-year-old man, charged with possessing cannabis in Queenstown on November 5, is to appear in the Queenstown District Court on Monday.
