A wayward deer and an icy road were factors in two non-injury crashes on rural Queenstown roads yesterday morning.
Sergeant Linda Stevens, of Queenstown, said the first crash occurred at 5.30am, when a car hit a deer on Malaghans Rd, near Coronet Peak. The deer was killed in the crash but it was not known if the animal was wild or had escaped from a farm.
The second crash happened at 8am, when a Queenstown woman (22) lost control of a 4WD vehicle on Littles Rd, in the same area, after hitting a patch of ice. The vehicle landed on its side.
Sgt Stevens said the woman was checked at the scene by paramedics.
