The Wellington-based eight-piece collective invited fans to enter their remix of either Rotten Apple or Strugglers by August 30.
The winning remix will appear on its forthcoming Specials album and the remixer will receive a percentage of the profits from sales of their remix.
Vocalist-percussionist Daniel Weetman said yesterday all band members will decide on the winning remix and he was excited to hear the results - he had even had a go himself.
"I really like it when someone turns the track inside out and it becomes something else, it doesn't sound like the original at all. That's what gets me excited, they've made it their own."
The hard-working boys took their four studio albums of original material on the road to five dates in Australia, more than 17 in North America, including Canada for the first time, and eight in the United Kingdom and Europe, "to great turn-outs" all within this year.
"We always knew we've got a different reggae, funk, afrobeat sound, whatever you want to call it, and the reggae scene is getting more exposure in the States."
Weetman said the band was considering basing itself in Berlin for six months to keep on pushing in Europe.
"Nothing but positive can happen from that. The attendance there is definitely growing . . . It's all about timing and we all have families, so it's a difficult one. It's something we're thinking about."
