French woman liable for deportation

The French woman who was on Tuesday sentenced at the Queenstown District Court to two months' jail has been transported to Christchurch and is liable to deportation.

Susie Suptille (30), a cleaner who was living in Queenstown, was sentenced by Judge Kevin Phillips on five charges including dangerous driving, drink-driving, disorderly behaviour likely to cause violence and possession of cannabis.

Her sentence means she is subject to deportation and was yesterday escorted by the Department of Corrections from Queenstown to Christchurch.

Immigration New Zealand has confirmed a deportation liability notice was served on Suptille on Monday. She has 28 days to lodge an appeal on humanitarian grounds to the Immigration and Protection Tribunal and if she does not appeal she will be deported on completion of her prison sentence.

Suptille's five charges stem from three separate incidents between January 1 and March 15.
